PM Vishwakarma Yojana 2023, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 August 2023, aims to uplift traditional artisans and craftsmen across India. Launched in September 2023 with a budget of ₹13,000 crore, the programme provides skill training, low‑interest loans, identity cards and financial assistance to improve the economic condition of artisans belonging to over 164 castes and 30+ families.
The scheme prioritises the following categories of craftsmen:
