IIT JAM Notification 2027

The Joint Admission Test for Masters or JAM is a common online test to provide admissions to various postgraduate programmes such as M.Sc., M.Sc. (Tech), M.S Research, M.Sc.-M.Tech. Dual Degree, Joint M.Sc. - Ph.D., M.Sc. - Ph.D. Dual Degree and and Integrated Ph.D across multiple disciplines by premier institutes across the country and to consolidate Science as a career option for bright students across the country.

IIT Kharagpur has released the official notification of IIT JAM exam 2027. This year, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur will conduct the computer- based Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM 2027) on February 14th, 2027 (Sunday). Interested and eligible candidates who wants to pursue their career in the basic science, may apply online here for this entrance test.

Eligibility Criteria to Appear in JAM

Age Limit: There is no age restriction to apply for JAM 2027.

Educational Qualification: The candidates who qualify in JAM 2027 must fulfill the following Eligibility Requirements (ERs) for admissions to IITs.

Candidates who have either completed their undergraduate degree or will be appearing in the final examination of their qualifying degree in 2027 are eligible to appear in JAM 2027.

Physical Fitness: At the time of admission, all admitted candidates will have to submit a Physical Fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed form. The admitted candidates may also have to undergo a Physical Fitness test by a medical board constituted by the Admitting Institute. Admission is liable to be cancelled if a candidate is found physically unfit to pursue their chosen course of study.

IIT JAM Application Fee

Candidates have to pay a fixed amount as application fee. Details are as given below:

Make payment of application fee as per your category and submit the form.
At the end, take a print out of the application form .

Exam Pattern of IIT JAM 2027

The exam pattern of IIT JAM 2025 is as mentioned below.

Name of exam: Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM)

Name of test papers: Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Statistics (MS), and Physics (PH)

Mode of exam: Online

Duration of exam: 3 hours

No of questions: 60: 30 in section A, 10 in section B, and 20 in section C

Medium of question paper: English

Total Marks: The question paper will be for 100 marks.

Negative Marking: IIT JAM will have negative marking for section A.

# Section A: 1/3 of marks will be deducted for each wrong 1 mark answer and ⅔ of marks for 2 mark questions;
# Section B: no negative and no partial marking;
# Section C: no negative marking
