Selection Process of CGEPT 2026
The Indian Coast Guard CGEPT 2026 selection process will be conducted in four stages. Candidates have to qualify at each stage to move forward in the recruitment process. The final selection will depend on the candidate's performance, eligibility and the number of vacancies available.
Stage-I: Computer Based Examination (CBE)
The first stage is a Computer Based Examination consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions. Each question carries one mark and the examination will be conducted in both Hindi and English.

- Total Marks: 100
- Duration: 1 hour
- Negative Marking: No
- Qualifying Marks: 40 for UR/EWS/OBC candidates and 35 for SC/ST candidates
Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be shortlisted for the next stage.
Stage-II: Recruitment at ICG Recruitment Centres
Shortlisted candidates will be called to the designated Indian Coast Guard Recruitment Centre for the second stage. This stage generally includes:
- Basic Identity and Biometric Verification
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
- Assessment & Adaptability Test
- Document Verification
The PFT includes a 1.6 km run, squats, push-ups and bent-knee sit-ups. The Assessment & Adaptability Test is qualifying in nature. Candidates should be prepared to spend around 1–2 days at the allotted recruitment centre.
Stage-III: Training Base at INS Chilka
Candidates shortlisted for Stage-III will be called to the training base at INS Chilka. At this stage, candidates will undergo:
- Basic Identity Check, including Aadhaar-based verification
- Verification of original documents
- Pre-Enrolment Medical Examination conducted by the Recruitment Medical Officer
Candidates shortlisted for this stage will be issued a provisional e-admit card.
Stage-IV: Final Document Verification & Authentication
The final stage involves detailed verification and authentication of the candidate's original documents. Candidates will be required to produce their original educational certificates, identity documents and category certificates, wherever applicable.
The documents and eligibility details will be verified by the concerned authorities. Candidates found to be ineligible or unable to produce valid documents may be removed from the recruitment process.
Final Selection
Candidates who successfully qualify all the required stages and meet the prescribed eligibility and medical standards will be considered for final selection, subject to the availability of vacancies and other applicable recruitment conditions.
