Eligibility Criteria of Assam VFA Recruitment
Citizenship: The candidate must be an Indian Citizen as defined in Article 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India and must be a permanent resident of the State of Assam. As proof of domicile, the candidate must upload a copy of a valid Permanent Resident Certificate issued in Assam for educational purposes.
Small Family Norms: Candidates have to submit a declaration regarding “The Small Family Norms” in Form-A at the time of applying for the post.
NOC for Government Employees: Candidates who are currently working in regular Government service, whether on a permanent or temporary basis, must upload an employment certificate issued by the competent authority under whom they are serving. This requirement does not apply to candidates working on a casual, ad-hoc, daily-wage, hourly-paid, or contractual basis. The certificate should clearly confirm their employment in the post for which they have applied.
However, candidates, seeking pay protection, continuation in service etc., must upload No Objection Certificate (NOC) against the applied post, issued by the competent authority under which he/she is working.
Age Limit
Age of the candidates should not be less than 18 years and not more than 40 years of age as on 01.01.2026 . Candidates may note that the age of the candidates will be calculated on the basis of the HSLC Pass Certificate/HSLC Admit Card/Certificate issued by a recognized Central/State Board/Council where age/date of birth is clearly reflected. No other documents shall be accepted in lieu thereof for the purpose.

Educational Qualification
Candidates need to pass HSSLC (Science) with Biology as a subject from any recognized Board/ Council/University.

Selection Process
To select eligible candidates for recruitment to the post of Veterinary Field Assistant or an equivalent post, an OMR-based written examination will be conducted. The exam will have a duration of 120 minutes and will carry 100 marks, consisting of 100 questions covering the following subjects:

VFA Syllabus
NO syllabus of OMR-based written examination for the recruitment to the Veterinary Field Assistant or an equivalent posts are released by Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Assam yet. However, as suggested by the department, candidates may follow the existing syllabus prescribed by Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), Div- II. Mandatory One Year Training
Selected candidates will be required to undergo one year of mandatory training in Elementary Knowledge of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science at the School of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Assam, Ghungoor, Silchar, or its extended campuses under the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department. Candidates must successfully complete and pass the training before they can be appointed to the post.
Note: If any of the candidates fail to pass in one or more subjects, he or she may subsequently be allowed to sit for re-examination in that subject or in those subjects as the case may be with following conditions.
(i) A candidate shall get total three chances for qualifying in the examination.
(ii) If any candidate is unable to pass the exam in three chances, he or she shall not be eligible for appointment.
Guidebooks
First time ever, an OMR-based written examination is going to held for VFA post. Hence, no specific guidebook, as of now is available in the market for this particular examination. However, candidates may start preparing with their Class XI and Class XII textbooks. In addition to that, they may use NEET UG PYQs and Lucent's General Knowledge for revision purpose.
