Discover the 7th Pay Commission update – ₹30,864 arrears, 4% DA increase from July 2023, salary calculations for levels 1‑18 and key dates.
The Government of India has announced a significant salary revision for all central government employees and pensioners under the 7th Pay Commission. Effective from July 2023, a one‑time arrear of ₹30,864 will be paid for the period July‑September 2023, and the Dearness Allowance (DA) has been increased by 4 %.
| Arrear Period | July – September 2023 |
| DA Effective from Salary | October 2023 |
| Level | Grade Pay (₹) | Basic Salary Range (₹) | 4% DA Increment (₹) | Revised Salary (₹) |
| 1 | 1,800 | 18,000 – 56,900 | 1,440 – 2,276 | 19,440 – 59,176 |
| 10 | 5,400 | 56,100 | 2,532 | 58,632 |
| 18 (Cabinet Secretary level) | — (Fixed) | 250,000 | 10,218 | 260,218 |
The DA component is calculated on the sum of Basic Salary, Grade Pay and Travel Allowance. With the 4 % uplift, employees across all pay bands see a proportional rise in their take‑home pay. For example, a Level‑1 employee with a basic salary of ₹18,000 and Grade Pay of ₹1,800 will receive an additional ₹1,440 as DA, raising the total to ₹19,440 before other allowances.
The 7th Pay Commission’s latest amendment delivers a substantial financial boost to central government employees and pensioners. With a ₹30,864 arrear and a 4 % rise in Dearness Allowance, the government aims to mitigate inflationary pressures and ensure fair compensation across all pay levels. Employees can expect the revised figures in their October 2023 salary, along with subsequent installments of the arrear. Stay updated through official portals and payroll notifications.
